Day One Hundred and Fifty Five - Quick Fix

Tuesday, November 20th, 2007

I’m working from home this morning waiting for the Plumber to show up! I’m wearing another shirt provided by the one and only Ms. Carol Pfeffer. Here is her talking about the Frostburg shirt.

“Frostburg is 3 hours west of Baltimore in Allegany County. The people from that area are Pittsburgh Steelers fans. It’s interesting (unless the feeling has changed) that the people connect more with that town then B more. I graduated in December 1977 (eek!) with a BA in Art Education. I loved being in the mountains and I loved (still love) the snow. We had a lot! Frostburg was founded in 1898 as State normal School #2. In 1935, the name changed to Frostburg State Teacher’s College and in 1987 renamed Frostburg State University. Full time enrollment 4558 and total 5041. Instate tuition is $5K. I paid $100 per semester, $650 for room and board. A total payout for me was a few dollars shy of $900 per semester, but now a student can expect to pay almost $16K per semester.”

I’ve only passed through Frostburg to go snowboarding at WISP… I’m really glad that she has been kind enough to donate and share her stories with us here in 365 shirts land. Alzheimer’s has had a major impact on her life as well, and she is playing a major part in raising money for research by helping me keep the streak alive.

And it’s fixed! Thanks to the fine staff at Amendt Plumbing I can take a shower again…Good thing I worked from home today…

Day One Hundred and Fifty Four - Das T-Shirt ist ganz toll.

Monday, November 19th, 2007

Today’s shirt is another one Donated to 365 shirts. Here is a direct quote from the supplier…”The shirt with Rudesheim. This is a town in Germany that is on the Rhein River. It’s the home of Asbach brandy. There web address: http://www.asbach.de/html/english/index.php

There is a rich history that speaks of the Roman rule. Yes, believe it or not Rome ruled a good part of that middle Germany. All along the Rhein are these working castles. Boats that traveled along the Rhein were stopped. There were always fees etc. I have read a little, but I can assure you that I did not know (even having had a world history class in school) that I didn’t know that the Romans ruled so far north west of Italy. My friend said, “Carol, you have to remember that the Romans brought civilization to the area.”

Sweet embroidery! I think every image that represents Germany has a Beer Stein…Notice that they worked it in right next to Hansel and Gretel.

Day One Hundred and Fifty Three - Do it for the kids.

Day One Hundred and Fifty Two - Parkville Football Rules

Saturday, November 17th, 2007

Today’s RVCA aqua blue Tshirt definitely braved the cold weather at Patterson Park. I was out there watching the Parkville (same team as softball except I dont play) social league football playoffs. They definitely did work on their opponents and pulled off a nail-biter second game to advance to the semi-finals. Congratulations guys. I’ll bring a whole cheering section next game…Or some beer atleast. My baby girl had 5 touchdowns on the day…Who needs chalk talk right…Anyway, That’s all to report on the day. I’m shutting myself in tonight to work on a friends site, eat some pad thai, watch the Wire season 3, and drink some Brooklyn Winter Ale.

Day One Hundred and Fifty One - Day Off

Friday, November 16th, 2007

My day off has been chock full of Mantastic events so far… I kicked the morning off by waking up at 7:45, getting coffee and breakfast at Dunkin’ Donuts, heading over to Dustin’s house for a day of moving heavy objects (notice I dressed appropriately…old baseball shirt…), taking tons of “building supplies” to two of Baltimore County’s finest landfills (where we saw a random friend) and moving our screenprinting press from a studio space in East Baltimore to a new space in Dustin’s basement. Let’s just say the day couldn’t have possibly been any manlier. Well, We didn’t really build anything…Look how dirty my pants are though. All in a days work. Sorry for the crazy long run on sentence…
