Day One Hundred and Twelve - Blast from the Past

Blast from the past indeed. This Toy Machine Skateboards shirt is atleast 11 - 12 years old. I’m thinking it dates back to my skateboarding days, specifically in 9th or 10th grade. I always loved the Toy Machine graphics, ads, and videos. Even as a naive young high schooler I knew I somehow wanted to adapt the graphic stylings of that company into my own work, back then I just didn’t know how I would do it. Fast forward to today and I think that I can claim Toy Machine skateboards and more specifically, Ed Templeton as two influences in my Painting and Design styles.

Yesterday was a good Saturday. I stepped away from the computer to go check out the screening of the new Sigur Ros film Heima. It was a pretty amazing combination of music, performance and icelandic landscapes. It was Rachel’s first exposure to Sigur Ros and I think it’s safe to say that she really liked them. I already felt like their music was genuine, however this film definitely took that feeling to another level. I feel like every note they produce is a direct compliment to the land and people of Iceland. If you get the chance watch it.
